What is a Giclee?
A giclee, pronounced "zhee-clay", is a state of the art ink jet printing process used in the highest quality fine art reproductions. The quality of a giclee far exceeds the quality of a standard lithograph and is usually printed on archival 100% acid free cotton rag paper or canvas using archival ink.
Sterling Edwards hand produces each giclee individually on textured 100% acid free cotton rag fine art paper. The superior quality of the paper with its textured surface and the ink jet process creates a beautiful black and white image that is referred to as "pigment on paper". Do not confuse a giclee with a standard black and white photograph which is printed on photo stock. There truly is no comparison or rival to a fine art giclee.
Each giclee is hand signed and numbered by Sterling Edwards. It is then sealed in a clear plastic sleeve to protect the paper and is shipped in a sturdy mailing tube .
The low edition printings of Sterling's giclees make them a desirable and collectible piece of art. As with all art, exposure to direct sunlight over a prolonged period of time is not recommended. Such prolonged exposure can result in gradual fading of the image.
